| Project-xl: Project-xl is an easy-to-use Excel template designed for those who need to plan and monitor small projects (up to 100 tasks), but who don’t want to spend a fortune on software. With Project-xl, data entry is easy and intuitive, and great looking gantt charts, budget summaries and performance reports can be created in minutes – whether you’re new to project management, or an experienced practitioner. A full User Manual is included with the program to get you started quickly and to provide a simple, robust project management methodology to follow. Up to 100 tasks can be added, which is adequate for most small/medium projects, and the gantt chart and budget is created ‘on the fly’. Each task can have up to 5 predecessors, and 5 resources assigned to it. Once your schedule is complete, you can baseline it and then start tracking progress by updating task information with actual start/finish dates and costs incurred. Project-xl will then use Earned Value Analysis to provide a report on project performance, and to predict what the final costs and durations are likely to be. With minimal effort, you will therefore be able to keep your project on track, and provide professional-looking status reports to your key stakeholders. A facility is also provided to export schedules to MS Project or summaries to new Excel workbooks, so that project information can be shared with other project managers using those programs. Project-xl does most of the things that the more expensive packages will do at a fraction of the price. A single user license is $25, whilst the site license is $125. |
